Synthetics

Composite modelling. Laminate studies.

RESEARCH APPLICATION

Compare models.
Plan the next test.

Different models ask different questions of a material. Compare approaches, explore layers and keep the assumptions in view.

For composite development, materials engineering and applied research.

THE APPROACH

More than
one perspective.

A comparison is useful when its assumptions are visible.

SYNTHETICS / EVIDENCE IN CONTEXT

Define the study.

01 / 04

Choose the material system and record where its properties come from.

WHAT YOU GET

Explore the material.
Question the model.

A research workspace that keeps inputs, approaches and evidence distinct.

01 /
01

Compare approaches

Examine model responses under the same study conditions.

02

Explore laminates

Investigate lamina properties, orientations and stacking sequences.

03

Keep the context

Record sources and assumptions so the study can be reviewed.

TECHNICAL SCOPE

Different models.
Explicit assumptions.

The modelling workbench includes Voigt, longitudinal Halpin–Tsai and an empirical hybrid. Each has its own scope.

What is the comparison shown here?

A numerical illustration of aligned-fibre axial tensile modulus: Ef = 70 GPa, Em = 3.5 GPa, ξ = 20 and an illustrative hybrid k = 0.75. Vf ranges from 0 to 0.60. These are not fitted test data and are not the response of the laminate drawn alongside.

Does this replace a materials test?

No. Numerical verification, calibration and agreement between models do not establish independent experimental validity or certification.

What is available in the application?

Availability depends on the published release. Composite-model comparison and laminate analysis have separate scopes; other materials, properties and loading conditions need appropriate models and data.

Read every stage
  • Define the study.Choose the material system and record where its properties come from.
  • Examine the laminate.Inspect orientation and stacking sequence within the laminate module.
  • Compare on common terms. In the axial-modulus workspace, compare Voigt, Halpin–Tsai and the empirical hybrid.
  • Choose what to test next.Use model differences to guide a question, not to replace experimental evidence.
